The T Bone Ranch is truly an OLD HISTORICAL RANCH. T Bone Ranch is one of the original old west working ranches of Colorado. It was founded in 1880s as many cattle ranchers assembled their cows on The T Bone in the fall. They would then drive them through Lavita Pass. Then on to Pueblo to put on them on trains and ship Eastward to feed the beef demand in large cities. They would also drive them to Sante Fe, New Mexico as well. The T Bone has been recognized as one of the Premier early ranches of Colorado, known for quality horses and cattle. It is Located in the southern end of the San Luis Valley, an area rich in agriculture, ranching and wildlife. This ranch consists of 2,906 +- acres. There are four sprinkler pivots and a long list of senior water rights; both wells and surface water rights. There are several houses, barns, and outbuildings. This ranch has two large houses (one is a remodeled Adobe from the 1880s), a Bungalow, an industrial generator, dozens of loafing sheds, a Quonset hut, 10 stall barn, a large and a small horse arena, cattle pens, corrals, a workshop, and other outbuildings. The meadows are divided into several pastures and cross fenced. The ranch has approximately 550 animal carrying capacity. The Rio San Antonito River runs through the Ranch with mature trees and abundant wildlife. Deer, elk, bears, coyotes, mountain lion, ducks, geese, and wild turkeys frequent the property.
